I'm Helen, a Wildlife and Permaculture Gardener, Nature Connection Guide, and Social & Therapeutic Horticulture Practitioner. My approach to gardening is natural, organic and gentle - working in partnership nature, reading cues and messages from the seasons, weather and living beings in the garden.

Gardening as an occupation, brings so much joy, sensory stimulation and a deep sense of connection and peace. It can stimulate reminiscence, invite gentle movement of the body and offer a real sense of purpose and hope. Being present with nature, exploring mindfulness and lessons nature can offer us is a beautiful way to lower stress, and help to support our mental health.

The Gentle Gardener is my way of supporting people to connect with nature, through gardening and nature-based activities.

For Adults, This may look like practical help - supporting you to maintain your own garden, grow your own food, or creatively inviting wildlife to share your garden.

It may look like me visiting your home or care home with a pre-prepared gardening activity; created to support health or recovery needs you may have, or simply for enjoyment.

Or perhaps you work with or care for people who could benefit from spending ‘slow time’ with nature and would like sessions facilitated for a small group or individual.

For Children, I offer 1:1 and small-group STHP sessions with the bonus of Yoga and Mindfulness woven in. Sessions can be offered at your home, or your child’s school/education setting and support with garden design and creation is available.

We also offer an educational and interactive School Gardening Programme and a School Garden Design Consultation service.
